Las Vegas (English: Las Vegas; translated from Spanish "Meadows" or "fertile valleys") is the most populous city in Nevada, the United States, the county seat of Clark County, and an internationally renowned center for recreation, shopping, entertainment and gambling. Founded in 1905 and officially became a city in 1911 It is the largest U.S. city founded in the 20th century. The population of Las Vegas has 568,746 inhabitants (2007).
